What it is
Linerase is an injectable heterologous Type I collagen biostimulator, offered at Klinik Amisi within the skin pillar. The collagen used in Linerase is purified equine (horse-derived) Type I collagen, delivered into the dermis using fine needles. It is positioned around supporting skin density rather than adding volume.
Linerase is often considered for delicate areas where the skin tends to thin or become crepey over time — including around the eyes, mouth, neck, hands and décolleté — and forms part of the broader collagen-stimulating treatment options at the clinic alongside Karisma and Sculptra.
A consultation is required before the first session. Our doctor will review your skin condition, medical history (including any allergy to animal-derived products) and goals before recommending whether Linerase is appropriate.
How it works
Linerase delivers Type I collagen directly into the dermis. Once in place, this provides a structural component that the skin can incorporate, while also acting as a biostimulator that may encourage the skin’s own fibroblast activity. Over the course of sessions and the weeks afterwards, this can support skin density and resilience.
Unlike a hyaluronic acid filler, Linerase is not designed to add visible volume or change facial proportions. The aim is a gradual improvement in skin quality and density, particularly in areas where the skin has become thinner or more crepey. Individual results vary.
What to expect
Before your treatment
Your first visit begins with a consultation. We will discuss your skin concerns, medical history, current skincare, any past injectable treatments, any allergies (including to equine or animal-derived products), and any medications including blood thinners. To reduce the risk of bruising, we may suggest avoiding fish oil, high-dose vitamin E and similar supplements for several days before your session, where it is safe to do so.
During the session
The skin is cleansed and a topical numbing cream is usually applied for around 20 to 30 minutes. The doctor then injects Linerase across the planned area using small, controlled placements. Sessions typically take 30 to 45 minutes including numbing time. You may feel mild stinging or pressure during the injections.
After your treatment
You may see small bumps at the injection points immediately afterwards — this is expected and usually settles within 24 to 48 hours. Mild redness, swelling or pinpoint bruising is also possible. Avoid heavy makeup for the rest of the day, and skip strenuous exercise, saunas and very hot showers for 24 hours. Daily broad-spectrum SPF 50+ is part of the long-term plan.
Recovery and downtime
For most patients, downtime is mild. Surface bumps typically soften within a day or two, while any bruising can take a few days longer to fade. Avoid strong actives, exfoliants and facial massage for at least 48 hours, and follow your doctor’s specific aftercare advice. Improvement in skin density builds gradually over the course of sessions and the months afterwards, and individual results vary.
Who is this for
Linerase is typically considered by adults who want to support skin density and resilience, particularly in delicate areas where the skin has become thinner or more crepey. It suits patients comfortable with injectable treatments and willing to follow a structured plan.
You may be a candidate if you have:
- Crepey or thinning-looking skin around the eyes, mouth, neck, hands or décolleté
- Early to moderate signs of declining skin density
- An interest in density support rather than volume change
- Willingness to commit to a course and follow aftercare
- Realistic expectations about gradual, cumulative change
- No active skin infection or contraindicating medical conditions
Considerations and contraindications
Linerase is generally not offered to patients who are pregnant or breastfeeding, who have active skin infection, open wounds or cold sores in the treatment area, who have a history of severe allergic reactions to equine or animal-derived products or any component of the formulation, or who have certain autoimmune or bleeding conditions that need medical clearance first. Recent dental work, acute illness or planned major events within a few days of the session may also lead our doctor to reschedule. Always disclose your full medical history, medications and supplements during consultation so the right product — or no treatment at all — can be recommended.
